Similarity-Based Subsequence Search in Image Sequence Databases
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes an indexing technique for fast retrieval of similar image subsequences using the multi-dimensional time warping distance. The time warping distance is a more suitable similarity measure as compared to the Lp distance in many applications where sequences may be of different lengths and/or different sampling rates. Our indexing scheme employs a disk-based suffix tree as an index structure and uses a lowerbound distance function to filter out dissimilar subsequence without false dismissals. It applies the normalization for an easier control of relative weighting of feature dimensions and the discretization to compress the index tree. Experiments on medical and synthetic image sequences verified that the proposed method significantly outperforms the näıve method and scales well in a large volume of image sequence databases.

SBASS: Segment based approach for subsequence searches in sequence databases
The sequence database is a set of data sequences, each of which is an ordered list of elements [1]. Sequences of stock prices, money exchange rates, temperature data, product sales data, and company growth rates are the typical examples of sequence databases [2, 8]. Similarity search is an operation that finds sequences or subsequences whose changing patterns are similar to that of a given quer...
متن کاملFast Retrieval of Similar Subsequences in Long Sequence Databases
Although the Euclidean distance has been the most popular similarity measure in sequence databases, recent techniques prefer to use high-cost distance functions such as the time warping distance and the editing distance for wider applicability. However, if these distance functions are applied to the retrieval of similar subsequences, the number of subsequences to be inspected during the search ...
متن کاملChallenges and techniques for effective and efficient similarity search in large video databases
Searching relevant visual information based on content features in large databases is an interesting and changeling topic that has drawn lots of attention from both the research community and industry. This paper gives an overview of our investigations on effective and efficient video similarity search. We briefly introduce some novel techniques developed for two specific tasks studied in this ...
متن کاملSegment - Based Approach for Subsequence Searches in SequenceDatabasesSanghyun
This paper deals with the subsequence searching problem under time-warping in sequence databases. Our work is motivated by the observation that subsequence searches slow down quadratically as the average length of data sequences increases. To resolve this problem, the Segment-Based Approach for Subsequence Searches (SBASS) is proposed. The SBASS divides data and query sequences into a series of...
متن کاملMatching mixtures of curves for human action recognition
A learning-based framework for action representation and recognition relying on the description of an action by time series of optical flow motion features is presented. In the learning step, the motion curves representing each action are clustered using Gaussian mixture modeling (GMM). In the recognition step, the optical flow curves of a probe sequence are also clustered using a GMM, then eac...
